Elk Lake<\/strong>
\nPaige Parkhurst, a member of the varsity volleyball and softball teams, taught dance lessons to children for her senior project.<\/p>\n

Parkhurst, who has been dancing for 14 years, taught the classes at Stage Door Dance Studio in Tunkhannock, where she takes classes.<\/p>\n

“I really love dancing and working with kids,” she said. “Plus it was a way to give back to the community and the studio.”<\/p>\n

The senior worked with six groups of children ages 4-9, choreographed the dances and picked the costumes.<\/p>\n

“Sometimes it was hard because they didn’t think of me as their teacher; just another kid,” Parkhurst said. “But after they got used to me, they would listen and do well.”<\/p>\n

Parkhurst is also a member of the Ski Club, National Honor Society, scholastic team, student council, Key Club, FBLA, Prom Steering and serves as class treasurer and yearbook editor.

\nForest City<\/strong>
\nSophomore Courtney Daniels has gone from the sidelines of the volleyball court to the middle of the action. After serving as manager while an eighth-grader, Daniels has played on the team as a freshman and sophomore. She has also served as co-captain of the cheerleading squad for two years, is a three-year member of student council and is a member of Friends Of Rachel.<\/p>\n

Montrose<\/strong>
\nSenior Brenton Warner is working alongside athletic director Joe Gilhool for his senior project.<\/p>\n

As a football player, Warner has always had the support from other sports teams, who work the concession stands at the Friday night football games. That’s why Warner wanted to give back to those teams, as a “thank you” for their support.<\/p>\n

Warner, with the help of his fellow football teammates, will be working a concession stand for the winter season at the girls’ and boys’ basketball home games.<\/p>\n

“I figured it would be nice to do something for another sports team because they always help support us,” Warner said.<\/p>\n

Mountain View<\/strong>
\nEighth-grader Sarah Carpenetti is in her second year with the cross-country team. Also on the track team, Carpenetti said she likes to run the longer distances.<\/p>\n

As an eighth-grader, Carpenetti knows it takes a lot of work to build stamina and improve her times.<\/p>\n

“It’s hard,” she said. “You can always do better, but I like doing it.”
