Roy Marvin Jr. was stabbed 29 times and bled to death along a remote stretch of a Susquehanna County road while he was with friends, Sarah Briggs and Jerry Mast.

Marvin’s body was then dragged across the road and dumped about 100–feet down an embankment along the Susquehanna River.

On Friday, Dec. 18, Mast, 25, Hallstead, admitted to the role he played in the matter, by pleading guilty to third degree murder, and a count of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Mast is expected to provide testimony against co-conspirator and girlfriend Sarah Briggs at her trial scheduled for February 2016.

Mast faces a maximum of 60 years in prison on the two counts. A sentencing date will be determined following the Briggs’ trial.

Following his arrest on Feb. 12 in Bradford County, Mast offered police few details before asking for legal representation. Police found Mast and Briggs in Marvin’s vehicle.

But Mast did tell investigators that the victim had picked him and Briggs up the morning of the murder took them to the Great Bend Exxon station before the three went on a drive on Harmony Road.

In a preliminary hearing held earlier this year, Susquehanna County Coroner Anthony Conarton told the court that several wounds were potentially fatal and that almost every vital organ of Marvin’s had been hit in the knife attack. He sustained wounds to the front and back of his body, as well as to his head and left hand.

The knife, according to police, came from the home of Briggs’ sister, Miranda Briggs. It was recovered in a drainage ditch near Marvin’s body at the scene.

Sarah Briggs did provide police with a statement at the time of her arrest, telling investigators that Mast and Marvin began an argument that turned physical outside of Marvin’s vehicle.

She told police that she only got out of the car to move Marvin’s body from the roadway.

Briggs faces a second degree murder charge, as well as the robbery, conspiracy and abuse of a corpse counts which were held for trial following a preliminary hearing held earlier this year.

Both Mast and Briggs have been held without bail in the Susquehanna County Correctional Facility since their arrests in February.
