At Susquehanna, Zach Conrad has built a reputation for being one of the most tenacious linebackers in the LFC Division III.

As a senior, he put in extra time at the gym and has worked on his strength and speed. He also participated in several football camps this summer where he received rave reviews, according to Susquehanna coach Kyle Cook.

“He’s a good athlete and he doesn’t just show that in a game,” Cook said. “Sometimes his teammates get annoyed with him because he is always going 100 percent. He has one speed and defensively, he is by far our best athlete on the field.

“Hopefully, we can move him around offensively and he can use some of his speed and athleticism on both sides of the ball.”

Last season, the 5-11, 195-pound Conrad helped lead the Sabers to the District 2 Class A championship game. He had 69 solo tackles and 37 assists, and seven tackles for loss, good enough to earn a spot on the LFC Division III all-star first team.

“We are coming off a good season last year,” Conrad said. “(We) really pride ourselves on having a good physical defense. We put in a lot of work and we are planning on keeping up the intensity again and really going for it this year.”
