Mountain View soccer player Trystan Phillips, is the Independent’s Student Athlete of the Week.

Phillips is a senior and plays defensive center mid-fielder for the Eagles. He has been playing soccer for 10 years.

“I started playing soccer because when I moved here from Florida. The only sport I had played was baseball. I wanted to try something new and soccer looked like fun,” Phillips said.

After giving the game a try, Phillips stuck with it. “I like soccer because it’s physical, fast-paced, and a good time spent with friends,” he said.

Despite the Eagles’ successful season, Phillips described this year’s experience as a “tough road, but we have great coaching and strong players.”

Aside from soccer, Phillips also plays volleyball and basketball for Mountain View. In his spare time he likes to play in pick-up basketball games.

During the past summer, he worked at Masters Concrete.

He plans to study video game design, but is undecided about which college he will attend.
He is the son of Justin and Nancy Phillips of Harford Township.
