Following its mission to provide a statewide, united voice for sportsmen and conservationists in Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs will meet in Harrisburg in March for its annual Spring Convention.

Representatives from sportsmen’s clubs and conservationists from around the state will gather March 11-13 at the Best Western Premier Hotel and Conference Center. Agenda items for the weekend sessions include updates from Federation committees on topics such as current conservation issues, firearms, and reports from the state’s fish and wildlife agencies. Delegates will also be given the opportunity to cast their votes that will mold the Federation’s position on several important legislative topics including proposed increases in the state’s fishing and hunting license fees, the use of semi-automatic firearms for hunting, and changes in the trespass law.

This year’s convention is highlighted by the Saturday evening banquet, as the Federation welcomes one of the country’s leading authorities on our Second Amendment rights. Jonathan Goldstein is not only an NRA certified pistol instructor, but a volunteer attorney for several firearms organizations, including the National Rifle Association. As we face more and more attacks on the Second Amendment, this is a time of great uncertainty for law-abiding sportsmen. It’s vitally important that we understand our rights and how we must work to protect them.

Goldstein actively lectures on firearms law and safety across Pennsylvania and has been awarded the NRA’s Institute of Legislative Actions’ Defender of Justice Award for his “tireless service to the Constitution, with particular emphasis on the protection and furtherance of the Second Amendment.” An author, he has published a number of articles for national firearm law and firearm safety publications. As well, he currently sits as a non-director member of the NRA board’s Outreach Committee.

While delegate voting is reserved for member club, county and state organization delegates, sportsmen and conservationists from around the state are invited to attend the convention and banquet to learn more about the Federation and the work it is doing throughout the state. The convention will be held at the Best Western Premier Hotel and Conference Center, 800 East Park Drive, Harrisburg. Registration is open through March 7; special room rates at the Best Western are available until February 2.
