MV, MA collect first wins

Mountain View and Montrose collected their first wins in matches played on the opening day of the high school golf season.

Forest City played to a tie against Riverside; and Elk Lake and Blue Ridge fell to their opponents on the links.

On the back nine at Panorama, Brandon Griffin won the final match, 2-up, to seal the win for Mountain View, 5-4, over Carbondale.

At the Montrose Country Club, Isaac Walker and Jake Kelley won three points in the final group to lead Montrose, 7-2, over Mid Valley.

Chris Bebla and Dylan O’Dell each had two wins for Forest City, as the Foresters tied Riverside 4½-4½ in a Lackawanna League Division III match on the opening day of play on the front nine at Pine Hills on Monday.

At Tall Pines, Cole Tyler had two wins for Elk Lake but it wasn’t enough to carry the match as the Warriors were defeated be Lackawanna Trail, 5½ – 3½.
