A Conklin, N.Y., man was killed in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 5, after he was struck by a car in a field near the New York border in Choconut Twp.

Seth Ryan Swindler, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, a field located just of SR 267.

Swindler and two 17-year-old females, one from Conklin and one from Florida, were riding a mattress being pulled behind a vehicle in a field.

The vehicle towing the mattress crossed in front of another vehicle that was exiting the field which struck the mattress with Swindler and the two teens on it.

The investigation into the incident by Tpr. Nick Nederostek is continuing.
