Ely on brink of West Chester milestone

One point. That is all that separates Dallas Ely (Montrose) from becoming the 18th player in the history of the West Chester University women’s basketball program to score 1,000 points in a career.

Ely had 20 points Saturday in a 76-65 loss to Bloomsburg University in a first-place showdown in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division.

That put the junior at 999 career points. She is scheduled to go for the milestone tonight when the Golden Rams host Philadelphia University.

For the season, Ely is averaging 16.4 points, which leads the team ranks fourth in the PSAC.

West Chester is 11-3, 8-3 in league play. It is ranked fifth in this week’s Division II Sports Information Directors of America Atlantic Region poll.
