Police arrested a Union Dale man Jan. 4 after he led police on a pursuit on I-81 in Lackawanna County.
At about noon, a Pennsylvania State Police trooper from the Dunmore barracks attempted to stop a gray Dodge truck on I-81 near exit 194 for a traffic violation. The operator failed to stop when the trooper activated his emergency lights and siren, and a pursuit ensued. The trooper lost sight of the vehicle in the area of SR 407 and SR 632 in Waverly. The vehicle was then observed by a Waverly Police Officer who pursued it, but lost sight of it at SR 524.
Through the investigation, it was determined that the operator was Daniel McMullen III, 26, of Union Dale.
McMullen was located at a residence in Union Dale, at about 7:40 p.m.
McMullen was charged with one count each of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police Officer (Felony), Recklessly Endangering Another Person (Misdemeanor), Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked (Summary), Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic (Summary), Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed (Summary), Careless Driving (Summary), Reckless Driving (Summary), and Operation of Vehicle Without Official Certificate of Inspection (Summary).
McMullen was arraigned at the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office Central Booking-DUI Center by District Magistrate Sean McGraw. Magistrate McGraw set bail at $10,000 and a preliminary hearing for Jan. 12.
