Mt. View Elementary School presented a program of songs and salutes to the military service of area men and woman on Veterans Day, Tuesday morning, Nov. 11.
Participants in the event included members of Elk Mt. VFW Post 848, Harford Cub Scout Pack 98, Harford Girl Scout Troop 50774, and Harford Brownie Troop 50067.
Students were invited to bring a veteran as their guest for the morning, and many students hosted representatives of all the armed forces who were either their relatives or friends.
A short informative video was shown, providing facts about the history of Veterans Day, followed by the enthusiastic singing of the anthems of all of the services. As the students raised their voices in honor, veterans stood in response to the song of the branch in which they served.
The entire crowd rose to their feet to close the program with a rousing rendition of the song “Proud To Be An American.”
The ceremony was organized by Jan Price, district athletic director.
