Accidents net probation for Susquehanna man

A Susquehanna man has been sentenced to a total of 18 months probation for his role in two accidents in just over a year’s time on Rt. 92.

Shane Beamer, 24, entered a guilty plea Monday in New Milford District Court to disorderly conduct in connection with a July 23 accident in Jackson Twp.

According to the police affidavit, Beamer struck the rear corner panel of another vehicle while attempting to turn into a parking lot and fled the scene.

District Judge Peter Janicelli sentenced Beamer to serve six months probation on the disorderly conduct offense to run consecutive to a 12 month probationary sentenced Beamer received Nov. 4 in Susquehanna County Court for a similar offense.

In the Court of Common Please, Beamer offered a guilty plea to one count of accident involving damage to an attended vehicle or property in connection with an April 16, 2010 crash on Rt. 92, in Gibson Twp. He was sentenced immediately following the acceptance of the plea.

In the April 2010 crash, Beamer admitted to hitting the side of a vehicle he was attempting to pass. In that incident, Beamer also failed to stop to offer assistance to the other driver, District Attorney Jason Legg told the court.
